I have not used dompdf before, however taking a quick look gives me some pause. If you are supplying your own markup, then you can write it in a way that dompdf can handle... without support for all markup, css, and javascript it can be problematic when dealing with external markup.

cpdf if not known for being a great pdf class, although dompdf did indicate that they made their own improvements, without being a user I can't really comment on how much it was improved. If you want the better library, pdflib, you have to purchase a license to use in production.
